At the Laurel Education Trust, we place staff CPD at the heart of our professional development journey, ensuring it directly impacts on the quality of education for our students at both founding schools, Simon Balle All-through School and Mill Mead Primary School. Today, Monday 1st September 2025, both staff teams, both local governing bodies and our trustees came together for our inaugural INSET day. The dedication of well over 300 talented people was palpable.

We began by focussing on a welcome to the Trust, setting out an inspiring purpose and vision, with our shared values underpinning all that we are. Through research-informed practice and innovative thinking we examined the culture of our Trust; celebrated exceptional academic results from 2024-2025; and focussed on the power of collaboration, releasing the potential of our Trust in which all – students, staff, governors and our wider community – can thrive. As the day unfolds, our high expectations are evident in the quality of safeguarding training, and our strategic work to set out school development priorities for both schools.

Thank you to all within the LET for your energy and thoughtful contributions – there is no doubt that professional growth this year and beyond is exciting indeed within our very special community.
